TETERBORO, NJ – SEPTEMBER 21, 2011 – Alfred Kelly, CEO of the 2014 Super Bowl Host committee will be the keynote speaker for mdest 2011, the Meadowlands Liberty Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (MLCVB) annual travel and tourism conference. The event takes place at 12 Noon on Tuesday September 27th at First Aviation’s hangar at Teterboro Airport.
In its seventh year, mdest consistently draws leading destination marketing organization leaders, operators of tourism-related businesses and elected and appointed officials from across the state to hear insights on the most current topics and issues facing the travel and tourism industry in New Jersey. Themed Your Super Bowl Game Plan, this year’s mdest focuses on the biggest event on the State’s and the Meadowlands Liberty region’s horizon, the Super Bowl to be played at MetLife Stadium in February of 2014.
“Preparing for an event like the Super Bowl is no small feat and we intend to put our region in the best possible position to benefit long term from its role as host,” said MLCVB CEO, Jim Kirkos. “mdest 2011 will be an opportunity for our members to see firsthand, what’s going into it and how they can best prepare.”
Immediately following the keynote luncheon will be a public policy listening session, where speakers will outline what is required of destination marketing organizations, their stakeholders and State government in preparing for large-scale events. In other sessions, transportation experts will break down the mobility issues in the region and tourism packaging, from concept to delivery, will be explored. Speakers on these panels include John Jacoby, general manager of Newark Liberty International and Teterboro Airports for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Krishna Murthy, executive director of Meadowlink; Tim Stout, president of Stout’s Transportation and president of the NJ Motorcoach Association; Jill Renslow, vice president of marketing for Triple Five/American Dream and Caylin Sanders of Escapemaker.com.
