There are many ways to go when deciding on a Christmas tree. There is no correct choice and in the end a tree is a tree. It’s what it symbolizes that’s important.
That being said, I remember my first tree like it was yesterday. Brooklyn. A small apartment and a giant Blue Spruce tree, with tinsel and a star on top. It was brilliant and it smelled even better. Then, a few years later, the horror…the real tree was gone and in its place was a short, fat, white plastic tree with boring white lights and seriously shiny blue and white balls. What? Where were the bubble lights and those spiky ornaments? Where was the tinsel? The whole tree looked like tinsel!!! Nooooo!
Suffice it to say that I am a fan of Real Trees. You can buy them on almost any street corner if you so choose. They are in shopping centers and mini malls and Exxon stations. That’s cool I guess. People gotta have a tree and that’s fairly convenient for them. They can pick up a Douglas Fir and a box of donuts at the same time. But if you want the full boat, the real deal, the whole enchilada, try going out and picking your own at a tree farm. The first time I did this with my kids was a very special day.
