There is a movie called “Role Models” in which a Big Brother played by Paul Rudd, mentors a socially awkward young boy. This boy lives and dies for a Medieval Festival, where Kings and Peasants vie for the crown. It is elaborate and somewhat insane. I won’t lie. I was a socially awkward young boy who would have loved something like this where I was growing up. But somehow I don’t think Brooklyn would have offered the correct setting… swords and lances on 80th street? Um, no, maybe not. But in the magical, mythical village that is Smithville, it just seems to fit.
Join the players of the New Jersey Renaissance Faire and travel back to the days of yore and merry olde England as the historic village of Smithville is transformed into the Shire of Smithville in the heart of the English Renaissance. The good Duke of Northumberland has decreed merriment for all. Fun for the whole family including comedy, tragedy, sword fighting, dance, song, knights, jesters and so much more. Also stroll amongst the wares of the local vendors and traveling merchants sporting historical gifts and finely crafted items.
