Fleetwood Mac Daddy

fleetwoodQuick. Where were you in 1977 when Rumours hit the airwaves? Thirty-five years ago is but a memory for most of us. Were you at work, listening to WNEW-FM when you first heard the line, “Players only love you when they’re playing?” Were you in college when the marching band sounds of “The Chain” first distracted you from that paper you were supposed to hand in by Friday? Maybe you were in high school when you first saw the photos of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham and suddenly your main crush didn’t look as hot anymore. Of course, I realize that 35 years ago is a long time and some of you weren’t even born yet. But I’m sure over the course of the last 3½ decades you have heard the music. And the music is what it’s all about. It has stood the test of time to be considered a classic album, along with those of Clapton, the Eagles and the 1910 Fruitgum Company. Well, maybe not the Eagles…

Whether you were there or not at the beginning, you now have the opportunity to either relive the glory days of FM or experience it live for the first time. Speaking for myself, I was there in ’77 and I have seen them many times over and have fallen in love with Stevie Nicks (that girl can twirl!) again and again. “Take my love, take it down…” Come and witness the maniacal Mick Fleetwood on the drums, banging away like he’s still back in late 60’s London. Check out the calm that is bassist John McVie, providing the Yang to Mick’s Yin. Listen and marvel at the musicianship of Lord Buckingham on the dozens of guitars he inhabits over the course of n evening. And of course, fall victim to the many charms and husky smoky voice of the aforementioned Ms. Nicks. Individually they are virtuosos. Collectively they are a rock and roll force to be reckoned with. On April 24th the Prudential Canter in Newark will play host to lovers of all shapes and sizes and music fans of many generations. The band has not toured in 4 years and tickets will sell out quickly, so contact Ticketmaster NOW! Before you forget to do your homework.
