Titanic Lunch

Here’s to making it count! I have to admit, when I first heard about this event while doing the extensive research we are famous for here at eNJoy nj.com, I was a little bit wary. I mean, lunch on the Titanic. “What’s next,” I thought, sightseeing on the Hindenburg? Marrying a Kardashian? Flying with Jet Blue? And after lunch, should you not go swimming for an hour? It was, at the very least, perplexing. Then, as your dedicated tongue-in-cheek editor, I persisted in taking a closer look at what was being offered, and booked myself a seat immediately!

For starters, the menu absolutely and authentically rocks. Don’t believe me? Take a look…

See what I mean? Authentic. You can almost smell the Corned Ox Tongue mixing with the salt air. And I think I overheard Jack telling Rose to meet him at the clock.
Oh, but there’s so much more than food (Iceberg lettuce will not be served). The history of that earth-shattering tragedy at sea still mystifies and draws us in. We devoured the James Cameron film in record numbers (alright, granted that Leo DiCaprio brought in a few fans…) and have visited museums where artifacts from that day were on display. It is the total experience we crave, and now, we will get the opportunity to feel, hear and see what transpired on that last fateful day.
The World Premiere Performance of “100 Years – Titanic – Survivors And Their Stories” comes to Ocean County Community College on April 15th. Professional actors, fully costumed in period garb (of course no one will be wearing the Heart of the Ocean necklace because the old lady threw it into the sea…silly goose!), will retell stories, actual accounts of the survivors who were rescued by the Carpathia on that morning following the sinking. Gives me chills just to think about it…
And to further enhance the experience, there will be a full orchestra to entertain you with the sounds and songs played that very day while the passengers regaled themselves with grand tales of their accomplishments, congratulating themselves on being, as Rose would say, “Masters of the Universe.” Dan Levinson’s Café Parisien Band will provide the music that the ill-fated passengers and fortunate survivors in the lifeboats heard until the very end. Brave musicians they were. And truthfully, what else were they to do at that point? As the orchestra leader might have said to his fellow musicians, “What will they do to us, dock our salary? They cannot even dock the ship!”

This is something not to miss. World Premiere. Drama. Food. Music. Titanic.
