The number is 18. It is not the drinking age in Nevada. Nor is it the number of times Mayor Rob Ford of Toronto has knocked over a member of his council. And it most certainly not the amount of times I have attempted to access the Obamacare website (for the record, I threw in the towel at 7). Actually the number is 18/18/18. I’ll explain…
Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville, is pleased to announce their annual holiday group show running from Thursday, December 5, through Sunday, February 2, 2014. This year’s show is entitled AG 18/18/18 in celebration of the gallery’s 18th year of operation, its 18 artists, and its location at 18 Bridge St. OK, so now you get it. The legacy, the vast amount of art and the location. It’s all there for you in one place in one very holiday-oriented town. The lovely village of Lambertville is widely known for its artists community as is its sister town across the river, New Hope. No one can pinpoint the exact reason why so many artists – painters, sculptors, photographers – have made their homes here but as in other creative enclaves, such as Santa Fe, New Mexico and Woodstock, New York, it seems to attract the best of the best. And this holiday season the place for these varied and various artists is the Artists Gallery.
There will be an opening reception that is free and open to the public on Saturday, December 7, from 4-7pm.The holiday group show brings together work from all 18 artists into the gallery’s featured exhibition room. “What’s so wonderful about this annual event,” explains gallery President Joe Kazimierczyk, “is the opportunity for us to display the full diversity of our artistic styles in one space.” Hanging a show of such visual diversity in one room can be a challenge but it’s one that the artists enjoy. “It always comes together well and makes for an exciting exhibition,” adds Gail Bracegirdle who has been with the gallery for sixteen years. The artists of Artists’ Gallery include José Anico, Beatrice Bork, Gail Bracegirdle, Jennifer Cadoff, Paul Grecian, Richard Harrington, Charlie Katzenbach, Joe Kazimierczyk, Norine Kevolic, Alan Klawans, Patricia Lange, Alla Podolsky, Eric Rhinehart, Carol Sanzalone, Doug Sardo, Michael Schweigart, Charles David Viera, and Andrew Werth. Some names may be recognizable to you, some may not. But art involves exploration and what better way to experience the diversity that the art world offers than to find it all under one roof.
View the art, visit the town. And have a merry old time doing it.
Artists’ Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11am-6pm, or by private appointment.
