Berenstain Bears

bearsYes, the Jetsons are cool and their cars can fly and many of us have a little brother who resembles Elroy. All women should be as loving and supportive as Lois Griffin and for the record, there is a little bit of Homer Simpson in every guy I know. Fred Flintstone is “the dude” and 56% of Americans would endorse him as the Republican candidate in 2016. Then there are the coolest bears since Goldilocks staged her little home invasion – The Berenstain’s. You love them on TV but now you can eNJoy them in a show that is perfect for both children and parents alike. Adapted from the classic children’s book series by Stan and Jan Berenstain, “The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical” brings everyone’s favorite bear family to life in a thrilling theatrical experience that everyone will love.

From Disney to Shrek to The Muppets, bringing television to theatre has been a mainstay of family entertainment for decades. The best story lines, the most engaging characters and the most recognizable situations are brought to thrilling life right in front of an audience. Children especially benefit from this visceral contact in a way that is not only understandable to them but also completely comfortable and relatable. The best of these are not afraid to show conflict and resolution. As always, Bear Country is not without its complications: Brother Bear’s grades are slipping, Sister Bear still has a few things to learn about making new friends, and Papa Bear just can’t stop eating junk food. Thankfully, we can always depend on Mama Bear and her loving patience to help set things right. Or as I like to call it, “My So Called Life in Brooklyn.”
